President of CTS, Mark Cadwallader is a versatile professional in the material science and application of geosynthetic barrier technology, with 23 years experience in geosynthetics failure analysis and testing, quality control and assurance, product development, HDPE geomembrane extrusion/manufacturing and materials science, technical support, installation, seaming procedures, and standards development. Mark has been a pioneer in the development and application of textured sheet, white surfaced sheet, tri-planar geonet, accelerated-aging tests by oxidative induction time, quality control procedures for manufacturers and installers, various surface-modified geomembranes and concrete embedment liners, and many other aspects of geosynthetics technology.

Responsible for planning and implementing new geosynthetic products, and providing technical support for construction and marketing depts at world’s largest manufacturer and installer of polyethylene lining systems. Set standards and protocol for quality testing of materials production and installation operations. Technical representative to government groups, standards groups, and trade/technical associations.
- Helped develop 5 new geosynthetics product lines including textured, white-surfaced, spark-testable conductive geomembranes, and membrane-supported bentonite clay blankets, developing technical usage protocols and marketing support worldwide.
- Technically assessed project installations, installation standards and specifications, and provided failures resolutions.
- Recipient of U.S. patent on new product introductions.
- Expert testimony, including for U.S. Congressional hearings on the use and technology of geosynthetic barriers for environmental containment.
- Brought materials testing lab up-to-date with added testing capabilities, manufacturing and field QC, and computerized laboratory management system.
- Primary author and editor of company’s CQA program manual, and team leader of the cross-functional group which developed CQA/CQC practices for the world’s largest geosynthetics installation company. Mark is familiar with numerous geosynthetics projects, providing resolutions to QA/QC protocol while at Gundle.
Mark holds an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, Houston, TX, 1984 and a B.S. in Chemistry from Kalamazoo College, Kalamazoo, MI, 1979. He worked as a plastics and oil additives Chemist and Chemical Engineer for Witco Chemical Company, Houston, TX before joining Gundle in March, 1985.
